Background: The hiperleptinemia is metabolic alteration in the elderly, which has been associated frequently with several illness of geriatric importance, nevertheless about its relationship with the osteoporosis is controversy. Therefore the aim of this study was determinate the relationship between the hiperleptinemia and the osteoporosis in older people.
Material and methods: a cross-sectional study was carried out in a no probabilistic sample of 24 older subjects. Standardized protocols were used to measure the anthropometric characteristics. Bone density measurements were obtained using the portable Norland Apollo 4 Densitometer. After a 8-h fasting period we measured serum leptin with inmunoradioassay (IRMA). The data were analyzed by means, Student's t test and linear regression with 95% confidence.
Results: The serum leptin levels and the body mass index (BMI) were not significantly different between the elderly with and without osteoporosis. When we stratify in function of diagnostic and BMI, we found that leptin levels correlated with the BMI but there was not association significantly with the bone density (T Score) ( r = 0.74, r2 = 0.006, p = 0.730)
Conclusions: In this study, our suggest that there are not a relationship between the serum leptin levels and the osteoporosis in the elderly.

The model was base on the theoretical aspects of integral service with can be understood articulating three stages: a) the schematic representation of the theoretical aspects, b) the feasibility and viability of the existent conditions for integral health service of the old population, and c) the ideal configuration of the organization of that service as response (modification of Yurén Camarena Ma. T:1978). Furthermore, the model is presented as the nearest possible to the imagination and experience. This relates the abstract characteristic of the social values “quality of life, life productivity, social wellness and absence of illness” with the concreteness of the necessities that were identified and the organized response that is needed in order to bring those values to crystallization.

Geriatric population is growing continuously. In elders, infections frequently spread. Previous studies have shown some degree of alteration/suppression in immunity of the geriatric population. Also is well know than in the winter season. We thought that the application of an inmunostimulant Gpp or placebo, observed diminution of the respiratory infections in the winter season and notable diminution of hospitalized patients. We conclude that Gpp enhanced the immune response and may help to prevent lung infections events in elders throughout the winter season.

Objective: To determine the relation between CPOD index and the psychosocial perception evaluated trough GOHAI in elderly population. Material and methods. A cross-sectional study was carried out in a not probabilistic sample of 200 elderly individuals living in Mexico city . Who where evaluated with GOHAI (Geriatric Oral Assessment Index) and CPOD (Caries scale valoration). Data were analyzed trough of means, standard deviation, and student test with 95% of confidence interval. Results; women had higher mean of CPOD than men (p<0.005). GOHAI results showed that the majority individuals had low score (<50) and only 21 (10.5%) showed regular psychosocial perception (GOHAI 51-55). On the other hand, we observed a negative relationship between mean of CPOD and HOHAI score. Conclusion: there were a negative relationship between mean CPOD an the GOHAI score (psychosocial perception)
